Published 13 April 2012

The Commission on Devolution in Wales held its sixth meeting on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th April in London.

Commission members received an update on activities since the last meeting including the engaging public events held in Swansea, Mid and North Wales; a speech at the Institute of Welsh Affairs conference and a lively debate at Funky Dragon’s (Children and young people’s Assembly for Wales) conference.

During this month’s extended Commission meeting, members reflected on the public events held in March and looked ahead at forthcoming events in April and May.  Members received an update on the research project and met with David Gauke MP, the Exchequer Secretary and Minister responsible for taxation.  Commission members discussed a number of papers on block grants and various taxes.

The Commission also received presentations from the Office for Budget Responsibility, Institute for Public Policy Research and met with representatives from Her Majesty’s Treasury and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

The next Commission meeting will take place on 14 May in Cardiff.
